Creative Direction, Copy Writing
Using the new website "Cameo" I was able to hire celebrities to endorse me on my job hunt. Honestly, not everyone was super eager, and after a few yes' and a lot of no's I was able to find a great set of people that were able to help.
Had that great idea at 3 am. Hire a celebrity to endorse me, but it was an interesting journey.
Originally I was planning to hire 1 celebrity. Snoopdog. But after I saw some endorsement restrictions on his profile, I decided to change it, and focus on the quality of the video versus how famous they were.
I reached out to about 20 people to work with me on this project. 6 replied with excellent videos that ranged from confused support to full endorsements. Some are from shows I love (like scrubs) and others are known throughout their industry.
What started out as a 1-page script, quickly turned into a 250 character limit and a restructuring of the project. The people I would hire would have a lot of creative freedom.
I decided to focus on the intro and outro of each video and just for general "job help" for the middle. The results were entertaining to say the least and varied widely.
Finding more interested participants instead of who was most famous, I believe, was a good approach. There were many famous celebrities that you could recognize by name along with no context, but in some cases they were unrecognizable from their past due to age, or they lacked charisma and their example videos fell flat.
At the end of the day, Lindsay Lohan wished me good luck, and I got a full endorsement from Robert Maschio. It was a lot of fun working with everyone.
